A profile of the Catholic Bishop Emeritus of Salford, the Right Reverend Terence Brain.
The Right Reverend Terence Brain is the Bishop Emeritus of Salford.
Born in Coventry in 1938, Bishop Brain was ordained to the priesthood in February 1964. He was ordained bishop on 25 April 1991 serving as an auxiliary in Birmingham before being Installed Bishop of Salford on 7 October 1997. In 1995, Bishop Brain was appointed Liaison Bishop between the Catholic hierarchy and Her Majesty’s Prison Service.
Bishop Brain is a former Chair of the Caritas Social Action Network (CSAN) Board of Trustees and is a member of the Bishops’ Conference Department of Christian Responsibility and Citizenship.
He served as Bishop of Salford from 7 October 1997 to 30 September 2014.
