The Catholic Parish of St Peter’s in Woolwich has adopted St Bakhita, the Sudanese Saint who at the age of nine was kidnapped and sold into slavery, she was a victim of what we would now call human trafficking.
Bishop Patrick Lynch unveiled and blessed the new picture in Woolwich this week.
At the blessing, the Bishop for Migrants – who is organising a conference in Rome to raise awareness of the scale of human trafficking and help develop ways to counter it more effectively – asked the parishioners to pray for the success of the conference which will be attended by Pope Francis and most especially, to pray for all victims of human trafficking.
