In St Chad’s Cathedral, Birmingham, today a Requiem Mass was celebrated for the repose of the soul of Peter Jennings – journalist, author, broadcaster, faithful servant of the Church, husband to Stella and father to Sarah and Joseph. He will be much missed.
Archbishop Vincent Nichols presided at the Mass and Archbishop Bernard Longley preached. Peter had been press secretary to both Archbishops of Birmingham.
Describing him as a ‘champion of the Catholic Church’ who ‘also appreciated the spiritual riches with which other Christian communities have been blessed,’ Archbishop Longley gave thanks for Peter’s life and prayed for his eternal happiness and rest.
Peter was laid to rest at Erdington Abbey church in Birmingham.
