Jesus encounters a sick man at a pool called Bethesda in Jerusalem. He had been unable to walk for 38 years. Jesus says to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” The Jews persecute Jesus for healing on the Sabbath, but he says, “My Father is working until now, and I am working.”
The chapter concludes with the second sign – the healing of the official’s son.
