The Holy Father's representative to the UK, the Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Antonio Mennini, addressed the Bishops of England and Wales at the start of their plenary session at Hinsley Hall, Leeds on 11 November 2013.

The Holy Father’s representative to the UK, the Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Antonio Mennini, addressed the Bishops of England and Wales at the start of their plenary session at Hinsley Hall, Leeds on 11 November 2013.

In his address, the Nuncio spoke about:

  • the Bishops response to legislation like the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act
  • legislative challenges to come such as the Right-to-die Bill
  • what Pope Francis looks for in candidates for the Episcopacy, the “bishops-to-be”
  • his visits to dioceses in England and Wales
