Faith leaders met today at Lambeth Palace in solidarity a week after terrorists attacked Paris leaving 129 dead.
Following a meeting of the Council of Christians and Jews, Muslim leaders joined Christian and Jewish leaders to stand together in mutual support and to demonstrate and encourage the cohesion of British society as terrorists seek to sow fear, hatred and division.
The leaders were:
Cardinal Vincent Nichols
Archbishop of Westminster
Archbishop Justin Welby
Archbishop of Canterbury
Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis
Laura Janner-Klausner
Senior Rabbi to the Movement for Reform Judaism
Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg
Senior Rabbi of Masorti Judaism UK
Shaykh Ibrahim Mogra
Assistant Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain
Yousif al-Khoei
Executive Director of the Al-Khoei Foundation in London
Cardinal Nichols said:
“It was an important moment where our three faiths stood together to support the Muslim community in their vulnerability at this time and to add our weight to the statement from the Muslim Council of Britain earlier this week.”
