The Patron of St Joseph’s Hospice is Cardinal Vincent Nichols, the Catholic Archbishop of Westminster. One of his cousins opened hospices in Peru and Pakistan – so care for the dying runs in the family. “He always said that dying was the most important thing every human being does – knowing how to end this life and enter the next life,” says Cardinal Nichols. “That’s the work of a hospice.”
