Bishop Paul Mason was Ordained an Auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of Southwark in St George’s Cathedral on Tuesday 31 May 2016.
In his homily, Archbishop Peter Smith said that the call of a shepherd is “to serve the People of God, with humility, mercy and compassion.”
He stressed the importance of a bishop being a man of prayer, “such a daily encounter empowers us to be more aware of what God wants us to do, rather than us just going off and doing what we might want to do.”
And he thanked the newly ordained Bishop Mason for saying “yes” to the call God had given him through the Church.
