Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, who is in Rome having contributed to the General Congregation sessions prior to Conclave, has sent a short video message with his reflections on the first two days of voting.
Speaking from the Venerable English College – the Seminary in Rome training men for the priesthood – Cardinal Cormac summed up the mood of anticipation in St Peter’s Square:
“Now there’s a sense that at any time, the name of the new pope, and his appearance on the balcony, will come.”
“It’s a time of waiting and of hope too… but a new pope brings a new style so I think Catholics all over the world today are praying and hoping and asking the Lord, ‘Please Lord, give us a holy and good pastor'”.
