The Archbishop of Canterbury, Archbishop Justin Welby, has sent a message of prayerful support to those gathered in Birmingham for a major national evangelisation event – a key part of the Proclaim ’15 initiative.
Archbishop Welby will be at the Church of England’s General Synod in York at the same time as Proclaim, but assured delegates of his prayers for the success of the initiative the evangelisation of this country.
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
I send greetings in the name of the one who calls each of us to be his witnesses.
I am so heartened to hear of your gathering together at Proclaim ’15. Across every denomination the Holy Spirit is inspiring, provoking and leading the Church of Jesus Christ to proclaim the Good News in this land. We can only do this in the unity, strength and joy that he gives.
To share the good news with another is the most wonderful of privileges. For the best decision anyone can ever make, at any time, in any place, is to follow Jesus Christ.
Today I am present at the Church of England’s General Synod in York, where we will join you in prayer for the evangelisation of this country. Be assured of my prayers for you this day; that God would empower you that you may know the height, depth, breadth and width of his love for you, and, inspired by this transforming love, you may be compelled joyfully to share this love with others.
In Christ,
