The Dicastery for Evangelisation has appointed Father Tom Thomas as Apostolic Administrator of the Prefecture of the Falkland Islands. Father Thomas, a priest of the Rosminian order serving as Rector and Parish Priest of St Etheldreda’s in central London, takes over as Apostolic Administrator of the Prefecture whilst continuing his work in the parish. The Bishops of our International Affairs department have released a new document offering a Catholic approach to arms control and disarmament titled Called to be Peacemakers. It argues that if Catholics are to take up the call to stand as peacemakers in our troubled world, an integral part of this mission involves working to limit the proliferation of weapons and to advance the cause of global disarmament. The document stresses that every human life lost to violence and conflict is a tragedy for our universal family. Read online or download a PDF version below.
A new edition of the Lectionary, the book which contains the readings which are proclaimed at Mass, will come into use in England and Wales on the First Sunday of Advent 2024.
