Rt Rev Marcus Stock, Bishop of Leeds

The Right Reverend Marcus Stock is the tenth Bishop of Leeds.

Born in London on 27 August 1961, Bishop Stock was educated at Oxford University (Theology) and the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome where he obtained his License in Dogmatic Theology.

He was Ordained Deacon by Cardinal George Basil Hume and Ordained a Priest by Archbishop Couve de Murville on 13 July 1988 for the Archdiocese of Birmingham.

Bishop Stock served in several parishes from 1988 to 2009 including, as Parish Priest, Dorchester-on-Thames, Bloxwich and Coleshill.

He was Director of Schools for the Archdiocese of Birmingham for a decade from 1999-2009.

In November 2009, he was appointed General Secretary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales and served as Acting Director of the Catholic Education Service from November 2011 to April 2013.

On 15 September 2014, Pope Francis announced that Bishop Stock would serve as the tenth Bishop of Leeds.
